All churches want to experience growth. Many churches are implementing special projects and techniques in order to achieve this growth. But churches consist of families—and families consist of individuals. If a family is spiritually healthy, it leads to spontaneous growth in the church and to the spiritual development of the community. Yet few churches focus their growth, particularly their spiritual growth, on the foundation of the holiness of individuals and family members. The traditional practice of family worship has become neglected as a result.

Here Francois Carr pleads for the return of family worship times. What is family worship? Why is it so rarely practised today? What should a family worship time consist of? How can my family get started? Illustrated with examples of many great men and women in church history, this book answers these questions and demonstrates the influence for good that the practice of family worship has had down through the centuries. Appendixes are included to examples family worship sessions in action.

Francois Carr, B. Th., M.C.C., D. Min., NDPB, is currently the Executive Director both of Revival South Africa and Te Deum Ministries, since 1993. He is the senior editor of Revival, A Journal On Prayer, Holiness and Revival. He is co-sponsor of the Heart Cry Conferences in the USA, Malawi and South Africa. He is also the author of several books, amongst others: Herlewing! Die Heerlikheid van God, Is Jy Vol?, My Tyd met Hom, Gebed vir Herlewing, Huisgodsdiens and Prayer for Revival, Revival! The Glory of God. He is a popular conference speaker in the USA, UK, Europe and several countries in Africa. Francois is married to Dorothea and they have one daughter, Leoné.

‘Anyone who knows Francois Carr quickly recognizes two things: he has a heart for his family and he longs for revival. In this helpful work, Francois combines the two. A heart for God is learned at home. Holiness is taught at home. If there is to be revival in our land and if there are to be great men and women of God leading our churches, then Christian parents must take seriously their calling to raise up a godly generation in their homes. This helpful work will be a great help to those parents seeking to build homes that honour God’.
—Dr Richard Blackaby, Director of Blackaby Ministries, Canada

‘I believe that Francois Carr has brought to us a very practical and helpful tool for families. As the family is so under attack these days we are seeking for things to bring stability back to the family. The essential role of the Word of God must once again become paramount.’
—Rev. John McGregor, Executive Director, Canadian Revival Fellowship, Canada

‘Here is an important and timely as well as Scriptural exhortation, and introduction, to family worship. Read and pray over its contents and the Lord can use it to bless your family and also your church. I commend this little book to you.’
—Dr Eryl Davies, Principal, Evangelical Theological College of Wales, United Kingdom

‘The Bible clearly instructs families to gather together for biblical teaching and worship. The author’s burden is that this vital practice be retained, restored and in many cases instituted for the first time. Family worship is essential and Francois Carr is convinced of its merits. He instructs most helpfully in great practical details how each family can begin worship together in the home. I commend this awakening call with its clear instructions to the Christian public.’
—Dr Colin Peckham, Former Principal, Faith Mission Bible School, Edinburgh, Scotland

‘It is an old but a good saying that families which pray together stay together. This refreshingly up-to-date book on Family Worship is a valuable contribution to a much neglected area of Christian practice. May God be pleased to bless its teaching to very many’.
—Rev Maurice Roberts, Inverness, Scotland
