Description

R A WEBB

Deals with death of infants, scripturally.

The problem of a child dying young or at birth is a testing problem from any system of theology.

Calvinism has been adversely criticised firstly by those who say that it is inadequate to the task and secondly by those who have severely arraigned as, logically and confessedly implicating the actual damnation of at least some dead children or infants.

R A Webb, who lost one of his own children, has written this book for two reasons: firstly to show that Calvinism instead of avoiding the issues raised by the death of an infant, does meet these issues squarely and fully, scripturally and intelligently.

Secondly to demonstrate that instead of implicating the damnation of any dead child, is the only system of theology which does, fairly and fully, give a Biblical, rational and theological basis for the salvation of babies you die young and those who are incapable of moral judgment.

R A Webb’s desire for this book is that it would be a comfort for bereaved parents and a satisfactory explanation of a difficult subject for pastors.

Originally published in 1907, this book was written to show that Calvinism didn’t avoid the issue of the dead infant, but instead addressed it head on and fully both scripturally and intellectually. What’s more, Calvinisim didn’t implicate the damnation of any dead child rather looking at it from a theological perspective through the doctrines of salvation.
